The Carrie Furnace eBook CD

Photographer Howard Grill had the opportunity to make several visits to the Carrie Furnaces in 2010.  This resulted in a portfolio of fine art black and white images that graphically convey the feel of being 'on tour' at the facility before the start of the Rivers of Steel restoration.

After creating the portfolio, Grill was able to record an interview with Mr. Ron Gault, who had worked at Carrie as a young man in the 1970s.  Seeing the photographs elicited in Gault a series of memories and fascinating anecdotes about what it was like to have been a worker at the facility when it was producing up to 1,250 tons of molten iron daily.

The multimedia project culminated with the production of this eBook, entitled "The Carrie Furnace".  The CD contains a portfolio of 47 high resolution photographs, the Gault interview with 'clickable' audio icons that play the anecdotes and commentary linked to specific photos, as well as more information about the furnace.  It is compatible with desktop computers, tablets, and smartphones.

In addition, each eBook case contains a 5x7 inch archival quality print of the Carrie Furnace signed by the artist.
