Annual Cherry Pie Hike

February 25 at 9:00 AM

This hike commemorates George Washington's birthday and gives you a chance to walk in his footsteps on the Old Venango Trail, which is now part of the North Country Trail. 

Where:  Old Stone House

Directions:  From Rt. 422 or Butler, go 12 miles north on Rt. 8.  Old Stone House is on your right and Rt. 528 is on your left.

Monthly Balkan dance party at the Bulgarian-Macedonian Center.  Live music is provided by the Center’s performing ensemble or by visiting guest artists.  Dance lessons are provided during the first hour of the program.

The menu includes a variety of hot and cold Bulgarian specialties and an assortment of beverages. Admission is $5 for members and $7 for non-members.

Salsa Dance

February 11 at 7:30 PM

The Bulgarian-Macedonian Center is hosting a Salsa Dance with music provided by DJ Jeff Shirey.   Beginner dance lessons, taught by Jeff & Colleen Shirey, begin at 9:00 PM.  Dances now last until 1:00 AM.

Salsa Pittsburgh's Nine-Year Anniversary Party will feature a special viewing of the film, La Epoca, Part II, The Lost Rhythms of Salsa.  The film will be screened from 7:30 to 9:30 PM at the BMNECC.  A question and answer session with the film's director will take place from 9:30 to 10:00 PM.  Social dancing and filming for Part III will be from 10 PM to 1 AM.  Admission for the movie and dancing is $10.  Admission for dancing only is $7.00

Admission is $7; all ages welcome.  There is a cash bar.

Animal Outfits

Children ages 7-10 can expand and explore their creativity through innovative and engaging programs taught by professional artist instructors.

Have you ever noticed that many dogs out for winter walks wear coats, sweaters and even boots?  Can you imagine what kind of outfit a goldfish or a pet mouse might wear to stay warm?  Even if you don't have a pet, you will have a lot of fun and a lot of laughs dreaming up crazy creations for different animals to wear.

Cost:  $10 per session

Draw Me a Story

Stories and songs!  Engaging performances!  Awesome art!  Lemonade and cookies!

You are invited to a family celebration to welcome our new exhibition, Draw Me a Story: A Century of Children's Book Illustration.

Wander through the galleries where you'll be charmed by familiar and loveable picture book characters in this exhibition composed of 40 works on paper by famed 19th- and 20th-century children's book illustrators.  Or curl up in our cozy gallery reading nook where you can choose a page-turner from a fun selection of children's books.  We'll have family-friendly presentations throughout the day and lots of cool book-related projects at our hands-on art station.  Oh, and one more thing: Why not surprise us and come dressed as your favorite storybook character?  We'd love to take your picture next to the "wildest thing" in the museum.

Gorson, Clyde Hare, Robert Qualters, Frank DeAndrea, John Shryock, Frank Vittor, Ron Donoughe, Mark Perrott and other artists from the collections of Tomayko Arts, Rivers of Steel National Heritage Area, and The Duquesne Club.
