Babushkas and Hard Hats Tour

August 14 at 9:00 AM

It was a magical mix of ingredients that made Pittsburgh the Steel Making Capital of the World–a legendary industrialist, thousands of immigrants, and a wealth of natural resources. Experience them all on the Babushkas and Hard Hats Tour!

  • Learn Pittsburghese as the bus heads off to a picture-perfect stop atop Pittsburgh's West End.
  • Hear the stories of the immigrant workers and their families.
  • Taste one of Pittsburgh sweetest traditions, the Cookie Table.
  • Make your own ethnic pastry at a Southside cooking school - it'll still be warm from the oven when you pick it up at the end of the tour!
  • Charter groups can also enjoy an optional delicious ethnic lunch with homemade soups, bread and desserts at the nation's oldest Bulgarian-Macedonian cultural center.

Babushkas and Hard Hats tours will operate on Saturdays, July 10 and August 14, 2010. Tours will depart at 9:00 AM from Commerce Court at Station Square. Reservations are required.
