The Rivers of Steel Archives are open to the public for research by appointment, Monday–Thursday 9:30–5:00. Research materials in the form of books, articles, audiovisual recordings, and archival material focus on the following topics:
- The steel industry
- Related industries (coal, coke, railroads, barges)
- Labor/unions
- Capital/industrialists
- Ethnic and cultural groups in Southwestern Pennsylvania
